Leveraging Community Connection
The opportunity:
Chatterbox isn't your generic cafe in Werribee - it's a place people have called home for over 20 years. Walk in and you'll likely recognise the first five people you see, with the barista already having your coffee ready before you run off to work. For over two decades, Chatterbox has built more than just a coffee shop - it's built a community. Kids who had their first babychino here are now coming back as adults ordering a long black, still carrying the same love for the business their family did.
As AI and social media take up more and more of our daily lives - especially for younger generations - staying relevant means more than just being online. Looking ahead to 2027, it was clear that Chatterbox needed to double down on real-world community interactions and events, keeping face-to-face connection at the core of its marketing strategy.
Our Approach:
We found the one thing that unites every customer at a cafe: a soft spot for furry friends!
The Free Puppuccino campaign gave people a reason to come visit Chatterbox and connect with one another outside of their routined day-to-day life and socialise outside of social media. The event brought together regulars of all ages, reinforcing just how important community is and why we can't afford to lose it as we move into the future.
The Execution:
This campaign ran across both digital and out-of-home advertising, including paid media. Making sure the creative spoke to everyone was imperative, so placement was split to reach older audiences too - think community notice boards and spots near their weekly Woolworths shop.
Our team held an in-studio shoot with our star talent, Errol the Golden Retriever, to create a strong OOH asset - one that could be spotted from over 20 metres and stick in people's minds. The same creative was adapted for digital and paid social, built to stop the scroll and drive people in-store.
For us, this wasn't just a marketing win - it was proof that people are craving genuine, face-to-face moments now more than ever. And that's exactly why community-first initiatives like this will continue to sit at the core of a lot of businesses' marketing strategies.
